Eagle Award

Friday was the last day of school at Flamingo Road Christian Academy which means one thing...awards chapel...This is where all the kids get recognized for their actions and grades throughout the year. At the end of the chapel the Eagle Award is given to one student, voted by the classmates, in each class that displays Christlikeness in their daily life.
Props to Abby Waller in Mrs. Assayag's 1st grade class.

Can you tell I'm proud?
I'm proud not because of the award, well maybe a little, but because Abby lives out her faith in a way that cannot go unnoticed. She is unselfish and kind and always trying to brighten everyone's day.

It's up!

You can view the First Wednesday Service on www.flamingoroadchurch.com under archives sermons...Check it out.

Time for Action

After 6 years of being a Florida resident I have found many advantages to living in the Sunshine State.
  • Disney World, Universal Studios and Sea World a few hours away.
  • 75-80 degrees from October until April.
  • Beaches, beaches, beaches.
  • People and cultures I never knew about.
  • Cuban food.
  • The BEST church in the world.

But today I came face to face with my biggest Florida gripe...supermarket tomatoes.

Could someone please tell me why... in a state where the sun never ceases to shine, lawns are mowed year round, oranges and grapefruits grow to the size of beach balls...can you not buy a tomato in a supermarket that is not orange in color and as hard as an Ellie Mae Clampett dinner roll?

Today I took control of the situation...60 days until harvest!!!

The Board

Did you sign up for the journey?

Landmark

I told you so...what a night at Flamingo Road Church.

I've been to dozens of sports venues in my life. World Series, UM football, Dolphins and Heat, MLB games all over the place, yet no sporting event yields the electricity and enthusiasm as a SEC battle at Razorback Stadium. Maybe because that is the team I am passionate about. Last night at Cooper City the electricity and enthusiasm for what God is doing at Flamingo was landmark.

The book of Joshua says: "Each of you heft a stone to your shoulder, a stone for each of the tribes of the People of Israel, so you'll have something later to mark the occasion. When your children ask you, 'What are these stones to you?' you'll say, 'The flow of the Jordan was stopped in front of the Chest of the Covenant of God as it crossed the Jordan—stopped in its tracks. These stones are a permanent memorial for the People of Israel.'" Joshua 4:6-7 The Message

Joshua left these memorials (landmarks) all over as a reminder to the people of the great things God had done for them.

First Wednesday was one of those landmark nights in the history of our church. There were great stories, great worship, great challenges, and hundreds of names on the clear board.

When the service is posted on the web I will blog the link.

What a great night!

Trash Talk for the Kingdom

I just heard the morning DJ team on Y-100 reading some of the confessions from ivescrewedup.com on the air. They were laughing and joking about it but they were reading them and talking about the site. Y-100 is a VERY secular radio station in Miami and, get this, the morning show is syndicated to many cities across the country. What does that mean? Our site is getting free pub...God works in a strange way, huh?

Remember, First Wednesday is Wednesday night at the Cooper City Campus. Let's represent Hallandale Beach by having a good showing of folks. This is one of those events that when you are going home afterwards you will be glad you came.

Go West on Stirling until you get to Flamingo Road...look for the big green roof.

Pizza at 6:00...$3 per person
Worship at 7:00

See ya there!
